MIMOSA: What Do Today’s Credit Markets Look Like Around the World?

The Microfinance Index of Market Outreach and Saturation (MIMOSA), partnered by e-MFP, is an effort to fill an important gap in the sector by establishing a standard framework for measuring credit saturation. In doing so, it gives market participants such as MFIs, investors, and regulators a tool that can guide important planning decisions that avoid excessive saturation and over-indebtedness, while highlighting areas that remain underserved.

This January 2026 update, based on borrowing trends published by the 2025 Global Findex Survey, covers 87 countries, and provides the first set of comprehensive market saturation data since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The 2025 scores are available by subscription, with significant discounts for e-MFP members and ATLAS subscribers.
